User's Guide

Your health should be kept under control and the ideal is a blood test once a year. This is only feasible if it is not necessary to control any parameter in particular as cholesterol or blood sugar. As one does not do tests every day, we must take into account certain precautions, so that the results are accurate and with quality.

Some analyses should be done on an empty stomach so that the food eaten does not affect the results. If you are asked to come fasting to harvest, try taking the
last meal 12 hours before. If you are taking any medication on an empty stomach, ie diabetic, ask your health care provider, how to proceed.

Analyses to be carried out during pregnancy do not require fasting except Glucose Evidence or the first determined glycemia in pregnancy.

In the case of infants and children check with your pediatrician or with the laboratory of the procedure.

Avoid physical exertion during the 2 hours prior to a crop and try to be calm, because stress alters the concentration of some parameters. You should also avoid coffee and alcohol within 4 hours prior to harvesting.

There are some analyses that require advance preparation, see the
Package Insert for Harvests, or the Lab to learn about the care to take before you make them, as well as the appropriate way to collect the sample.

The collection of some samples such as urine, feces must be carried out in suitable containers, so as to have the certainty that these containers were not subjected to any specific treatment or additives, which could alter the results of analyses.

Analysis

ROUTINE (cholesterol, triglycerides, glucose, etc)

Keep fasting for 10 to 12 hours taking the last meal about 20 hours the day prior to blood collection. This is extremely important in the case of lipids-fats (Cholesterol, HDL, Triglycerides, Lipid profile, total lipids and phospholipids). Does not apply in cases of being a baby or child and if you are diabetic, consult your doctor about fasting to apply.

Avoid physical exertion during the 2 hours prior to harvesting. Do not smoke 1 hour before harvest.

Do not drink alcohol, coffee or tea within 4 hours prior to harvesting.

Try to harvest from 08:00 to 11:00 (the reference values were calculated in this range and there are variations throughout the day).

Try to be calm before the harvest, because stress alters the concentration of some parameters to be measured.

SUMMARY URINE ANALYSIS (TYPE II URINE)

Collect part of the first morning urine (medium stream), in a clean and dry container, preferably provided by the laboratory

UROCULTURE (ASEPTIC URINE)

Carefully clean the genitals with mild soap (blue and white soap), and strong jet of water. Urinate despising the first jet and reaping the midstream directly into the sterile container, discarding the remaining urine. Immediately put the lid on the container and send to the laboratory in two hours, or keep in the fridge.

Note: For baby, put a pediatric bag, which must be replaced every 30 minutes, repeating the cleaning of the perineum with water and mild soap. After collection of the urine, put the bag in a sterile container and send to the laboratory in 2 hours, or keep in the fridge.

VANILMANDELIC ACID, 5-HYDROXY-INDOLEACETIC ACID, URINARY METHANEPHRINES, URINARY CATECHOLAMINES AND URINARY DOPAMINE

DIET: The day before and during the collection day, do not eat bananas, nuts and vegetables.

MICROALBUMINURIA

No diet required

HYDROXYPROLINE URINE 24H

In the 24 hours before and during the collection, the patient must not ingest meat and its derivatives, fish and its derivatives, soup or concentrated meat or fish broth, sweet foods containing gelatin.

ADDIS COUNT (12 HOUR URINE)

Deliver the entire volume of 12-hour urine to the laboratory, in a washed container.

COPROCULTURE (FAECES)

No diet is necessary.

OCCULT BLOOD (STOOL) SEARCH

No diet is necessary. Do not drink alcoholic beverages.

SEARCH FOR EGGS AND PARASITES (FAECES)

Each day, collect a small portion of feces (the size of half a walnut) into a container provided by the Laboratory. Label each container 1st, 2nd, and 3rd day. Store in the refrigerator until delivery to the laboratory.

DEGREE OF DIGESTION (FEECES)

The user must have a varied diet, rich in potatoes and fats, as well as rare meat. You must collect a small portion of feces (the size of half a walnut) into a container provided by the Laboratory. Do not use purges or enema.

EXPECTORATION

Carry out the collection in the morning, after nasal and oral hygiene, with just water, and in the absence of antibiotic medication.

NOSO-PHARYNGEAL EXWITATION

Keep fasting for 3 hours before harvesting.

VAGINAL EXUDE

Normal morning hygiene without irrigation.

SPERMOGRAM

For this parameter, please contact the Laboratory to schedule the collection.

SPERMOCULTURE

For this parameter, please contact the Laboratory to schedule the collection.

POSTPRANDIAL GLUCOSES, 1 or 2 hours after ingestion of glucose and PTGO

The user must have a varied diet, rich in potatoes and fats, as well as rare meat. You must collect a small portion of feces (the size of half a walnut) into a container provided by the Laboratory. Do not use purges or enema.

PSA

The user should not have sexual intercourse in the 48 hours prior to the analysis. In the last 24 hours you should not have performed any of the following exams: transrectal ultrasound, digital rectal exam, or prostate massage. In the last 2 weeks you should not have had any prostate biopsy. These tests cause false elevations in the PSA value.

TEST FROM XILOSE

The user must fast for 8 hours (adults) or 4 hours (children).

SEROTONIN

In the three days before and during the harvest, the user should not eat foods such as avocado, pineapple, plums, nuts, tomatoes and plant foods in general.

LITHIUM

The patient must be without medication for 12 hours unless otherwise instructed by their attending physician.

PREGNANCY TEST (PLANOTEST)

Does not require special care. Urine (preferably first thing in the morning) determines the presence of the hormone HCG in the urine. It differs from tests carried out at home (bought in pharmacies) because it is more sensitive, the result is almost 100% safe and is obtained in minutes. A positive result should always be confirmed with a blood test, as if there is protein or an infection in the urine there may be false positives.

BETA HCG

You do not need to be fasting or take special precautions to carry out this analysis.
